What do I need to vote?
To vote, you will need your "Voter Information Card", if you received one, in addition to acceptable identification. New regulations require identification.
- Show one piece of ID with your name, address and signature, for example your Ontario Driver's Licence.
- OR, you can show two pieces of ID - the first with your name and signature, and the second with your name and Vaughan address. For example: A Canadian passport AND a Statement of Old Age Security.
For a full list of identification options, click here.
If you do not have any of the eligible identification but you are on the Voters' List you will be asked to swear an oath/take a declaration before being issued a ballot. Your Voter Information Card cannot be used as identification, however it will help speed you through the poll. If you are not on the Voters' List and you do not have identification you will be ineligible to vote. Unless to return home to get your eligible ID.
How do I vote?
Give your acceptable identification to an election official who will cross your name off the Voters' List and give you a ballot and a secrecy folder.
- Go behind a voting screen;
- Mark your ballot by connecting the head and tail of the arrow pointing to the candidate of your choice - once for School Board Trustee. NOTE: if you are a non-resident voter, you do not get a vote for Trustee unless you are a non-resident and own residential property in Vaughan.
- Place your marked ballot in the secrecy folder;
- Go to the tabulator officer at the vote counting equipment who will insert your ballot into the tabulator.
- Your vote is then recorded and tallied
- All totals are stored in the machine until the voting location closes at 8 p.m. on Voting Day.

Ward Boundaries
On November 24, 2009, the Ontario Municipal Board issued an order with respect to the Ward Boundary By-law. A copy of the approved By-law is below. The Ward Boundaries defined in the By-law will be in effect for the 2010 Municipal Election. Please note that because the ward boundaries have been adjusted, some residents will be voting in a different Ward for the 2010 General Municipal Election than the one in which they voted in 2006. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Ward Boundary By-law
